FO!

Last Saturday, a man came into the yarn store while I was working. He wanted to know if anyone could make a sweater and hat for a little girl he knew who was turning one on September 19th. I offered to do it, even though it was just a week away and I wasn't 100% sure I'd be able to do it in time. I couldn't say no -- his story was so compelling.

A friend of his passed away a few days earlier from a cancerous brain tumor, leaving a wife and two daughters. The mom was in a state of shock and he wanted to do something special for her and her little girl. The mom calls the little girl her "little pumpkin." He wanted to know, could I make something that would go along with that idea? This is what I came up with...

Pumpkin

I hope it brings a little joy into their lives in a time of such sorrow. It brought me joy with every stitch I knit.

What a thoughtful thing to do. It's a beautiful sweater and hat. Did you design it yourself?

What a cute little sweater set and such a touching story.

Absolutely perfect for a little pumpkin. What a sad story.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Absolutely precious.

That is one of the nicest acts of kindness I've heard of! You did a great job, and your compassion is to be admired. What a wonderful gift of love.

Very cute, and that's very nice of you to do. I hope it brightens their day, too.

Oh that is so cute, and what a very nice thing for you to do!

It's adorable. I like the fuzzy parts and the buttons.

What a very special thing you did for these people - and the finished product is ADORABLE. My dad called me pumpkin when I was growing up, so maybe it holds an extra bit of appeal to me *s*

What a sweet little sweater and hat set. Sad story. You are such an angel for helping out like that.

Sad story, cute ensemble. I love the subtleness of the items. The pumpkiny goodness of the hat gets across without hitting you over the head, so to speak.

how generous of you! your gift is wonderful.

Beautiful little ensemble, Jen. What a lovely thing for you to do.
