Was anyone else disappointed with the most recent issue of Vogue Knitting? Usually there are at least a few things I really like, and some that are okay even if I wouldn't knit them. But this issue seems to be chock full of blah. I guess it just reinforces the fact that I'm a winter knitter. I don't wear a ton of knits in the summer. I'm not a big fan of knitting with cotton. But, I guess it's a good thing that there's nothing I have to knit in this issue, because I have enough on my plate as it is.
The Wobbly Tote has been felted and it is fabulous (if I do say so myself). It needs to be lined, but I don't have the right fabric yet, so that'll have to wait a bit. I'll post photos later...
And in non-knitting news, I've signed myself up for a quilting class. *gasp!* Yes, you may be saying to yourself, "that girl needs another hobby like a moose needs a hatrack" and you would be correct. Between my full time job, my teaching job at the LYS, knitting, spinning, and life in general, I have about two spare minutes a week. But, I've been meaning to learn this, and I happened upon this 5-week class, so I thought, "what the heck!" My goal is to make something lovely like this or this. For the class, however, we will be making some sort of nine square sampler. The store model was very country-bumpkin-not-my-style, but I'm there for technique. And I'm sure I can pick some lovely fabrics that will make mine look less Holly Hobby and more ___________ (insert modern, hip, trendy female here).

Yeah - i didn't see much in the preview I liked. And the same goes for me, there is more than enough to keep me occupado for a long time!
Can't wait to see your felted tote!

I'm with you on the recent issue of Vogue Knitting. And, I usually am more of a summer knitter since I can't wear wool here much, but nothing really caught my eye.

I agree about the Vogue. I usually find atleast one thing that grabs my attention, but this one - nothin'!

Hurray for quilting class! I am dying to learn to make a quilt, but I need another hobby like I need another hole in my head. Now, I can watch you do it instead. I am sure you will pick some great color fabrics.

I thought the same thing about the latest issue of VK. It remained at the bookstore. Blah.

Is it me, or does that issue look a lot the new Rowan Spring mag? Even down to the "Ethnic" inspired section...

Hmmm...this issue is not on the stands here yet -- even though it's supposed to be Spring in the Great White North -- so I haven't seen it 'up close and personal'. However, I am both more fond of winter knitting *and* too old to wear most of these fashions and still look good!

Honestly, the issue of VK seriously SUCKED! I do lots of summer knitting, since I live in a hot climate, but most of the items were ridiculous. I wonder if I'm just getting old? Or maybe too fat? Or maybe both. Regardless, I'm all about cutting edge in knitting fashion but lets get a balance going.
