More bags... I had to post this after Mother's Day because one of these was gifted to my mom. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been on a bag kick. Knitting, felting, sewing... I love the bags. Here's what I've been working on recently:

This bag is reversible -- here's the fabric that's on the inside. The bottom has plastic canvas for "sturdiness," and the handles have balsa wood for strength. I also made a little pouch to throw in the bag. All in all, I'm very happy with the way this turned out. The size is perfect for a medium-size knitting project, and the pouch can hold the travel scissors, stitch markers, measuring tape, etc. The only thing I was bummed about was that I couldn't get the tension just right for the topstitching, so it didn't turn out as "neat" as I would've liked. I used a very heavy thread for the topstitching and apparently, my machine didn't like it. But, I'm happy with the bag, and that's what matters.

This is the first bag I made -- the prototype for the Beach Glass tote. I made the handle holes a lot smaller on the second tote. My non-sewing mind forgot to take into account things like "seam allowances" and so forth. For some reason, I cut the hole just as big as I wanted the final hole to be. Turns out, it doesn't work that way in sewing. Who knew? Ha! I also made the second tote a little wider on the top and skinnier on the bottom. I like that shape for a tote. And, I added a MonkeyKnits tag to the second tote, too. You can see it in the upper left corner of the Beach Glass tote photo. Gotta love that!
I will definitely be continuing with this sewing kick, at least for a while. I have a few yards (Okay, more than a few) of fabric left in the 'ole stash earmarked for totes and purses. The question now is, how many totes can one girl have??? I think I know the answer to that!
Hey! I got my Sublime Stitching kit in the mail. Instead of just jumping right in on the bib I'm planning on making, I thought I would practice on some flour sack towels. Let's just say, I'm a natural born stitcher...
Or maybe this is just really easy! Either way, it sure is fun. And super cute, no?
What do you think I should put on the baby bib? I got the "Atomique," "Mod Mode," "Veggies," and "Tattoo" iron-ons... I really dig the tattoo stuff on the baby bib, but I'm thinking that's a little too cutting edge for this particular mommy-to-be. I'll probably stick to the veggies!

Today was artsy-craftsy day. John and I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and picked up a few fun projects. I'm making surprises for all my knitting girls. I haven't been able to start them yet because I needed a special tool. So I got that, and I got some of this. Here is the before... And here is the after! If you've never done this, or if it's been more than 15 years since you've done it, get your butt to your local craft store and start shrinking! Trust me. You will thank me.
